Polish Noodles (Cottage Cheese and Noodles) Kluski z Serem

Ingredients
  

  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 16 oz egg noodles 16 ounce package (any noodle will work)
  • 16 oz cottage cheese 16 ounce package tub
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 6 strips American bacon *optional
  • 1 tsp red chili flakes *optional
  • 1 dash nutmeg *optional

Method
 

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat butter over medium heat until melted. Cook onion in the butter, stirring occasionally, until golden, 10-12 minutes.
  2. In a large pot, boil some water with a pinch of salt.
  3. Add the egg noodles and stir them from time to time until they are tender but still have some bite, which should take about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Drain the noodles and put them back in the pot.
  5. Combine the noodles with the butter and onion mixture, cottage cheese, sour cream, sea salt, and black pepper.
  6. Heat the pot over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is warm, about 10 minutes.

Notes

Crispy American bacon is a delicious garnish. Just cook the bacon as normal, then pat dry with paper towel and crumble on top of dish!
